With the majority party pushing major tax increases, refusing to hear voter-backed initiatives, and making major decisions on public safety, education, and the cost of living during this short 60-day session, the 35th District legislative team invites residents to join them for an upcoming virtual town hall.
Sen. Drew MacEwen, R-Shelton, and Reps. Dan Griffey, R-Allyn, and Travis Couture, R-Allyn, will host an online town hall on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 6:15 p.m. to share updates from Olympia and hear directly from people back home.
The virtual event will give constituents an opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns, and weigh in on the Legislature’s direction as the session moves quickly toward key deadlines.
“Too many big decisions are being rushed through Olympia that could worsen our affordability crisis, make our communities less safe, and hurt local businesses,” MacEwen said. “This town hall is about making sure folks in the 35th District know what’s happening and have a direct line to us while there’s still time to speak up.”
Griffey said hearing from residents is especially important during a short session when major policy and budget decisions are moving fast. “We need constant feedback from our communities to keep us grounded in reality, not just what’s being pushed by the majority in Olympia,” he said. “These conversations help us stand up for our communities as we work to find real solutions that actually work for our district.”
Couture said the town hall is an opportunity for residents to be part of the process, not just watch it happen. “Whether it’s blocking new taxes, pushing for safer communities, or standing up for parents and students, public input matters,” he said. “We want to hear what’s on people’s minds and make sure their voices are part of the debate.”
