Following a months-long legislative session, 35th Legislative District lawmakers Sen. Drew MacEwen and Reps. Dan Griffey and Travis Couture announced they have secured millions in funding for local projects through the newly approved state capital and transportation budgets.
The final capital budget includes millions for improvements in the 35th Legislative District, funding everything from public safety and infrastructure upgrades to environmental restoration and youth programs. In addition, critical investments were maintained in the final transportation budget, ensuring key projects like the Belfair Bypass and Highway 3 widening through Gorst stay on track.
“These wins represent more than just numbers on paper; they’re direct investments into the future of our district,” said MacEwen, R-Shelton. “We’ll see safer roads, more resilient infrastructure, and stronger communities.”
“These investments will improve the quality of life in our communities,” said Griffey, R-Allyn. “I am especially proud of the collaborative bipartisan work that went into the capital budget. It reflects our strong partnerships with local leaders and community members.”
Rep. Travis Couture, R-Allyn, echoed that sentiment. “Our capital budget wins will help make our communities stronger and safer, preserve our forests and natural resources, and ensure our power infrastructure has adequate capacity,” he said. “I’m pleased we were also able to keep our critical transportation projects on course.”
